Every MBTI type has their own special purpose. The INTP is no exception. Today we’re looking at the Thinker archetype (which the INTP ultimately is). Because yes, this type really loves to think.

Before we start: I’m using the phrase “the Thinker” synonymously to “the Sage”, an intelligent and wise entity. I’ll write more about this archetype in one of my next posts.

What’s behind the calm, analytical exterior of an INTP?

Instead of “calm and analytical”, some might also say the INTP is “cold” and “uncaring”.

These latter adjectives would probably be uttered by Feelers (like INFP or ENFJ), as they might perceive the INTP as lacking feelings and only using logic.

Judging types might find the INTP as also lacking a sense of direction in their intellectual pursuit.

“Ok, so they think a lot, but where do they want to get?”, the Judgers are wondering.

The answer is complex.
