How Would Each MBTI Type Score on the Big Five Test?
Personality psychology offers two famous frameworks: the MBTI and the Big Five. They’re very different, but today I attempt to estimate how an MBTI type would translate to Big Five traits.
Both MBTI and Big Five offer their own perspective on human behavior and traits.
Today I woke up wondering: can we find correlations between the specific types defined in the MBTI and the broad traits measured by the Big Five?
What is the Big Five?
The Big Five personality traits, also known as the Five-Factor Model, is a framework for understanding human personality. These five dimensions are:
- Openness
- Conscientiousness
- Extraversion
- Agreeableness, and
- Neuroticism
…conveniently abbreviated as OCEAN.
Openness involves a person’s level of creativity and their willingness to explore new experiences and ideas.
Conscientiousness refers to how organized, thorough, and responsible an individual is.
Extraversion gauges the degree to which a person is outgoing, energetic, and sociable.
