Am I Projecting or Legitimately Angry?
I frequently find myself annoyed by the same things, like slow walking people on the sidewalk, or bad grammar. While in these cases I’m obviously projecting, there are often less clear situations. This begs the question: When is it me, and when is the other person at fault? Let’s talk projection.
Have you ever experienced being irritated by things that are not inherently irritating?
For example some might be annoyed by:
- Humblebragging
- People who like to be the center of attention
- Public display of affection (PDA)
- Loud laughter
- Optimism
- Clumsiness
If you have any more of your own examples, feel free to leave a comment.
I hope you get the drift. The above mentioned points are harmless, but they can trigger strong reactions in people who are projecting.
And the triggers tell more about the triggered person than about the supposedly „annoying“ one.
